Goth Belts and Harnesses
A belt is the cheapest structural change you can make to an outfit. It gives a shapeless dress a waist, it breaks up head-to-toe black, and it does both without you having to buy anything else.
Every belt and harness Midnight Hour makes is vegan leather. No animal hide anywhere in the collection, which is worth saying plainly because most of the harness market runs on real leather and expects you not to ask.
The hardware is where these earn their keep. Antique-finish studs, grommets, O-rings and chain, on black vegan leather, built to be seen rather than to disappear under a jacket.
They serve punk goth, witchy, casual goth and even corporate goth dressing, depending on which one you reach for and how much of it shows.
Studded, Grommet and Chain Belts
Four studded belts cover the range from subtle to loud. The Flat Studded Belt is the quietest, the Pyramid Stud Belt is the classic punk cone-stud version, the Accordion Studded Belt stacks them densely, and the Studded Belt is the straightforward one with a back snap.
The Grommet Belt swaps studs for eyelets, which reads slightly less aggressive and goes with more. The Stacked Ring Belt and Hip Slung Belt are the hardware-forward options for wearing low on the hip rather than at the waist.
For movement and noise, the Chain Draped Belt and the Vegan O-ring Chain Belt both hang chain off the hip. They're the pieces people notice first.
Corset Belts and Body Harnesses
A corset belt is the one that changes a silhouette rather than decorating it. The Corset Belt is adjustable black vegan leather and the Laced Corset Belt adds front lacing, which gives you more range to cinch and more to look at.
The harnesses do something different. The Vegan Belted Harness sits at the waist and runs straps up the torso, the Triple Threat Harness builds three rings into the same idea, and the Ring Strap Shoulder Harness works over one shoulder for an asymmetric line.
All three are adjustable, which is the reason they work across a wider size range than most of what we make.
How to Wear a Harness Without Looking Costumed
The rule that keeps a harness on the right side of the line: wear it over something, not instead of something. Over a black tee, a plain dress or a sweater, it reads as structure. Over bare skin, it reads as a costume.
Let it be the only hard detail. A harness plus a studded belt plus heavy jewelry is three things competing, so pick one and keep the rest plain.
Belts work hardest with dresses and over skirts where there's a waist to define. Our guide to styling goth accessories has more on how much hardware one outfit can carry.
Goth Belts and Harnesses FAQ
What Is a Harness Belt?
A harness belt is a waist belt with additional straps running off it, usually over the torso or shoulders, fastened with rings or buckles. It's worn as an outer layer over clothing for structure and line rather than to hold anything up, which is what separates it from a standard belt.
Are These Belts Real Leather?
No. Every belt and harness in this collection is vegan leather, with no animal hide used anywhere. The hardware is antique-finish metal. That's unusual in this category, where most harnesses are still made from real hide.
How Do You Wear a Body Harness?
Over clothing, not under it or instead of it. The standard approach is a plain black base layer with the harness on top, so the straps read as deliberate structure. Keep the rest of the outfit simple and let the harness be the thing people look at.
What Size Harness Should I Get?
Our harnesses and belts are adjustable and are stocked in a full range of sizes, including plus. Check the measurements listed on each product page against where you plan to wear it, since a belt worn on the hip needs more length than the same belt worn at the waist.
