Goth Hoodies Built for Everyday Layering
Eight pieces, all black, $67 to $109. Six are zip-up goth hoodies. The other two are hooded layers that behave more like outerwear than sweatshirts.
Fabric is soft French terry or midweight cotton fleece throughout, cut to be worn weekly rather than once a year in October. Goth hoodie, gothic hoodie, alt hoodie, gothic sweatshirt: same garment, and this is the short list.
The artwork is either original to us or licensed from bands we actually listen to. Nothing here is a costume piece with a hood attached.
These land across casual goth, witchy, punk goth and boho goth wardrobes, and they layer under a jacket as easily as they wear open over a tee.
Zip-Ups, Cropped Fits and Hooded Layers
A full-length zip is what separates these from a sweatshirt. Worn open, a black zip up hoodie functions as a light jacket, which is why six of the eight are built that way.
The Dagger Zip Up Hoodie ($67) runs an original spider dagger graphic down both sleeves in 80/20 cotton-poly fleece, with front pockets and ribbed cuffs and hem. It's the heaviest-feeling piece here and it's made in the USA.
The Medusa Zip Up Hoodie ($69) carries a silver serpent print across the back, hood and sleeve. The Embroidered Relics Zip Up ($69) goes the quiet route instead: tonal black-on-black embroidery with cut-out detailing, kangaroo pockets, 60/40 fleece.
The Bauhaus Sky's Gone Out Hoodie ($84) is officially licensed, in distressed mineral wash with a custom Bauhaus zipper pull. Every one is individually hand dyed and printed, so the wash varies piece to piece.
The Moon Tarot Hoodie ($69) puts custom "The Moon" tarot artwork across the back, with moon phases and stars running down the hood and sleeves in muted gold and cream on black.
Cropped. The Cropped Forest Witch Hoodie ($69) is the cropped zip in the grid, with forest witch artwork on the back and moths and botanicals along the sleeves and hood. It runs about 20 inches long on a small, so it sits well above the waist, and it's built to layer over tanks, tees and slip dresses.
Hooded layers. The Raven Embroidered Cloak ($79) is a hooded cardigan with raven and floral embroidery, and the Studded Denim Jacket ($109) is washed black denim with a French terry hood and sleeves. Both are covered properly in goth outerwear.
Sizing and Fit
Every style starts at XS, most run to 4XL, and the collection reaches 5XL. The Dagger stops at 3XL, so check the product page for the exact run.
Most of these are cut to a unisex men's fit, which the size chart on each product spells out. Size down for a closer fit. Stay true to size if you want it oversized, which is how the majority of people wear them.
The Cropped Forest Witch is the exception, cut shorter and closer through the body. Reviewers who wanted more length recommend going up a size.
One honest note on the Bauhaus: because each one is hand dyed, the wash and distressing won't match the photo exactly.
Prints, Embroidery and Licensed Art
Three things separate a $69 hoodie from an $18 graphic zip-up, and all three are visible on the grid.
Tonal embroidery with cut-out work is the most labor-intensive, and it's what the Relics and the Raven Cloak are built on. Original in-house artwork covers the rest: the Medusa serpent, the Moon Tarot card, the forest witch, the spider dagger.
Then there's the licensed tier. Our Bauhaus pieces are properly licensed band merch down to the custom zipper pull, made for people who came to goth through the records.

What are goth hoodies called?
Goth hoodie, gothic hoodie, alt hoodie and gothic sweatshirt all describe the same thing, and people search all four. The distinction that matters when you're buying is the format: zip-up, cropped, or a hooded layer you wear open like a jacket.
Where can I find gothic sweatshirts that aren't costumes?
Look at the construction. Midweight French terry or cotton fleece, embroidery or licensed artwork instead of a cheap screen print, a full size range, and black that stays black through a wash. Ours are designed in Los Angeles and ship from California.
Do these hoodies run big?
Most do. The majority are cut to a unisex men's fit, so size down if you want it fitted and stay true if you want it oversized. The Cropped Forest Witch runs shorter than a standard hoodie, and the Relics runs the roomiest of the group.
Are Midnight Hour hoodies unisex?
Most of the grid is, with the same garment sold to men's sizing across the board. The men's collection carries the same pieces if that's an easier way to shop them.
Start With the Zip-Up
If you're buying one, make it a zip. It layers both directions, it wears open through fall and closed in winter, and it's the format most of this collection is built around.
The Dagger is the heaviest, the Relics the most subtle, and the Bauhaus the one for the record collection. Size down from your usual unless you want it oversized.
